Things to Do This Summer on Cape Cod

Summer on Cape Cod is spectacular, and residents of over 55 communities in MA are spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do. From community activities, to sightseeing, to special summer events throughout the Cape, there’s something to appeal to everyone. Leisurely golf games, kayaking, wine festivals, summer concerts, cruises and more are some of the events homeowners at Southport are sure to enjoy.

Coloring is no longer just for little kids. Adults of all ages are enjoying the chance to discover their inner artist. The Mashpee Library is hosting the Coffee & Coloring Club for Adults every Friday from 10-11:30 a.m. This is a fun and relaxing way to explore your creative side, meet up with friends or make new ones, and feel like a kid again. The library supplies coloring pages, colored pencils, markers and crayons, or you can bring your own.

From June through October, the Mashpee Commons Farmer’s Market is held every Sunday from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. in front of the Organic Market at the corner of Fountain and Market Streets. As well as lots of great fresh, local produce, you’ll find prepared local foods, as well as live music.

On July 16, and again on August 20, Mashpee Commons will host a block party with entertainment for all ages, making it a great event to spoil the grandkids. There will be festivities set up throughout the Commons, including live music, guest food vendors, a bouncy house, face painting, bubbles, and more. All activities are free and open to the public.

Every Friday in July, the Summer Concert series is held at Peg Noonan Park in Falmouth. Starting at 6 p.m., a variety of musicians will be performing throughout the month. Bring your chairs or blankets and enjoy an early evening of great music in the outdoors.

Book lovers shouldn’t miss the Annual West Falmouth Library Summer Book Sale July 1-4. A broad variety of books are on sale, along with audio books, CDs, DVDs, and puzzles, all at great prices. Stock up on your summer reading.

Lobster rolls are a quintessential part of Cape Cod, and you can enjoy them along with chips and pie every Monday from 5-7 p.m. through July and August at “Lobsters on the Lawn” at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

Southport, one of the spectacular over 55 communities in MA, hosts and organizes its own special events throughout the year for homeowners and their guests. On July 14, head out on the Patriot Fishing Boat along Vineyard Sound and catch some sea bass and other specialities. The outing is $50 per person, so book now for this great opportunity.

Don’t miss the BaHa Brothers when they return to Southport on August 4 for a party of music and laughter. Tickets are just $12 per person for a spectacular performance by these five talented musicians who bring the summer to life with their great music, showmanship, and sense of humor.
